Car
If you are traveling by car, start from Winthrop, WA, and head east on WA-20 (North Cascades Highway) for about 14 miles. After passing through the town of Mazama, look for the Goat Peak Lookout trailhead on the right side of the highway, just past the Mazama Store. There is a small parking area available at the trailhead. Note that a Discover Pass is required for parking, which can be purchased at the store or online.

Public Transportation + Hiking
If you are using public transportation, you can take a bus from Winthrop to Mazama (check local schedules for availability). Upon arriving in Mazama, you will need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to the Goat Peak Lookout trailhead, as public transportation does not directly reach the trailhead. Once at the trailhead, you will need to hike approximately 3.5 miles to reach Goat Peak Lookout. The trail is well-marked, but be prepared for a steep and challenging hike.

Bicycle
For the more adventurous, consider biking to the trailhead. Start from Winthrop and ride east on WA-20. The ride is approximately 14 miles with some elevation gain. Ensure you have a helmet, water, and snacks for the journey. Once at the Goat Peak Lookout trailhead, secure your bike in the parking area and begin your hike up to the lookout.
