Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving, start by getting onto the nearest major highway. For example, if you are in downtown Madison, head south on S Park St and turn left onto W Beltline Hwy (US-12). Continue on US-12 for about 5 miles. Take the exit toward Lake Farm Rd and merge onto Lake Farm Rd. The Capital Springs Recreation Area will be on your right at 3102 Lake Farm Rd, Madison, WI 53711. There is free parking available on-site.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, you can take the Metro Transit bus service. From downtown Madison, catch bus route 7 towards the 'South Transfer Point'. Ride the bus for about 15 minutes and get off at the Lake Farm Park entrance stop. From there, it’s a short walk to the Capital Springs Recreation Area entrance. Make sure to check the Metro Transit schedule for bus times as they can vary.

• Bicycle

  If you prefer cycling, you can use the local bike paths. From downtown Madison, head south on John Nolen Dr, which is bike-friendly. Follow the signs towards the Capital Springs Recreation Area. The ride is approximately 4 miles and will take about 20-30 minutes depending on your speed. Remember to wear a helmet and follow local cycling rules.

• Walking

  If you are within a few kilometers, walking is a great option as well. From the nearest bus stop or parking area, simply follow Lake Farm Rd until you reach the Capital Springs Recreation Area. The paths are well-marked and the scenery is beautiful, making for a pleasant walk.
