Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, begin your journey from the center of Northwoods. Depending on your exact starting point, head towards WI-42 N. Follow WI-42 N until you reach the intersection with County Rd NP. Turn left onto County Rd NP, and continue driving for approximately 6 miles. Newport State Park will be on your left at 475 County Rd NP, Ellison Bay, WI 54210. There is a parking fee of $8 for Wisconsin residents and $11 for non-residents, which can be paid at the entrance.

• Public Transportation

  For those relying on public transportation, you will first need to take a bus to Sturgeon Bay. From there, transfer to the Door County Trolley, which provides services to various locations including Newport State Park. Please check the schedule ahead of time as services may be limited, especially outside of peak tourist season. You may need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service from the trolley stop to the park entrance, as it's about a 5-mile distance. Be prepared for costs associated with the bus and trolley fares, which can vary.

• Bicycle

  If you're feeling adventurous and are in decent shape, biking to Newport State Park is a great option. Start by heading towards WI-42 N and then take County Rd NP. The ride is scenic, but be prepared for some hilly terrain. Ensure you have a good map or GPS, as signage can be sparse in some areas. Make sure to wear a helmet and bring plenty of water, as there are no facilities on the way. Parking for bicycles is available at the park entrance, and there are no additional fees for bike parking.
