If you are traveling by car, start from the nearest major highway, which is US-191. Take US-191 north toward Yellowstone National Park. Once inside the park, follow the signs for the Grand Loop Road. Continue on the Grand Loop Road until you reach the junction with the South Entrance Road. Continue to follow the Grand Loop Road, then take a left onto the road leading to the Petrified Tree. The tree is located in the Canyon area of Yellowstone National Park and is well marked. Ensure you have a valid National Park Pass, which costs $35 per vehicle for a 7-day pass.

For visitors relying on public transportation, you can take a shuttle service from nearby towns such as Jackson, Wyoming.
