Car
If you are driving from Jackson, WY, take US-89 N towards Moran Junction. After about 30 miles, turn onto Grand Teton National Park road and continue until you reach the Moose Entrance. Follow Teton Park Road until you reach the junction with WY-22. Continue on WY-22 until you reach Alta, WY. From Alta, head to Alaska Basin Trailhead, which is marked and accessible. The road to the trailhead may require a high-clearance vehicle, especially during early summer due to snow runoff. Parking is available at the trailhead.
Public Transportation + Hiking
To reach Alaska Basin via public transportation, you can take a bus from Jackson to Alta, WY. Check local schedules for the exact times (usually operated by local shuttle services). Upon arrival in Alta, you will need to hike approximately 5 miles on the Alaska Basin Trail to reach the basin. Make sure to have a map or GPS device, as trail markings can be sparse.
