Car
If you are driving, start from the nearest major town, which is either Kasama or Mpika. From Kasama, head south on the T2 road towards Mpika. Approximately 120 kilometers along the T2, turn left onto the road marked towards Chonga. This road is a dirt road and may require a 4x4 vehicle depending on the weather conditions. Continue on this road for about 40 kilometers until you reach the entrance of Lochinvar National Park. Make sure to have your vehicle checked for any off-road capabilities before you set out.

Public Transportation
To reach Lochinvar National Park using public transport, take a bus from Kasama or Mpika to Chonga. Buses frequently depart from the main bus station in both towns. The journey to Chonga will take approximately 2-3 hours. Once you arrive in Chonga, you can hire a taxi or a local motorbike taxi (commonly known as 'boda-boda') to take you to the park's entrance, which is about 10 kilometers from Chonga. The taxi fare can range from 50 ZMW to 100 ZMW depending on negotiation.

Combination (Car and Walking)
If you are near Chonga, you can drive to the park entrance and then continue on foot for a more immersive experience. Park your vehicle at the entrance, where you will need to pay an entry fee (approximately 100 ZMW per adult). From the entrance, you can walk various trails to explore the park. It's advisable to hire a local guide for better navigation and insights about the wildlife and vegetation.
