Royal Delfin - 4'5H Dolphin & Whale Watching - Los Gigantes Masca - Lunch & Swim

Unfortunately our coach arrived last and once aboard the boat we quickly realised there were no seats available. We made do in the only shade on top of the boat which also happened to be the smoking area!!! People did move around so shortly after setting off we managed to find seats on the top. As it was very hot I decided to find shade down below which within a matter of half an hour had turned into a hospital with people being sick and lying around looking very green. Obviously this is not the companies fault as it clearly states do not book if you suffer from motion sickness. As soon as we stopped for swimming and lunch it became clear how busy the boat was and personally I felt a bit unsafe with the rush towards the back of the boat to get into the water. I enjoyed the lunch but again struggled to find anywhere to sit down to eat it. The highlight was obviously seeing the dolphins and whales on the way back to the port it was breathtaking. It would have been a fantastic day and worth the money if they hadn’t crammed the boat full.

Can’t fault this trip. The boat was full but everyone got a seat so far as I could tell. We were nearly last on and ended up sitting right at the front on the lower deck, which turned out to be the perfect spot. We saw a school of flying fish almost as soon as we left Puerto Colón, which set the tone for a magical day. The scenery all along the coast was beautiful and Los Gigantes cliffs were breathtaking. We stopped there for a swim, I got in with my daughters (14 & 22) and we’re all loved it. Lunch was served as we got out, decent enough (meatballs, sauce, rice, salad, crusty roll). Staff also went round with trays of fruit and later, shots of honey rum for the grown ups! Unlimited beer, sangria and soft drinks all day, and we didn’t have to queue once. Then after lunch we went on search of whales & dolphins and it was wonderful - lots and lots of bottlenose dolphins and pilot whales, I even got to see a dolphin from the underwater windows. Overall I can’t fault this trip, we all loved every second of it.

Dean Bowden Local Guide·43 reviews·2 photos 20 hours ago New Terrible experience from start to finish we sat upstairs the journey started fine about 45 mins in multiple adults and children began to get sick this wouldn't have been a problem only for they were all ushered over to our seating area to puke we had a small baby with us and a large woman fell onto him whilst getting sick the staff member moved to help her pushed my son up off his seat to sit her down on his seat we had to then go downstairs to escape this horrible scenario unfortunately unfolding on upper deck when we went downstairs it approached lunch time and this is were things get really bad the foods utter muck from the stone cold rice cold chicken meatballs that tasted bland and had a horrible tomato sauce that tasted canned without any work put into it whatsoever the highlight of the meal was a bread roll that had no point of being on the plate as I doubt anyone wants to mop up that sauce with it nor did they provide butter the rep that sold the tickets said unlimited snacks for kids crisps bars etc none of that was provided it was all charged for the snacks provided are apples and bannas WoW. For the money you charge for kids onboard you should cater towards them chips nuggets breaded fish goujons etc are things that kids like heck some fresh fish or meat would be nice and can be held in baine Marie's like the meatballs the slaw was also terrible no acid or salt or any herbs to lift it with freshness just tasted like shredded vegetables that were starting to ferment in their own juices terrible food guys worst part was that every has paid to enjoy their time onboard nobody should be moved because some1 else feels uncomfortable especially a child away from there parents disgraceful carry on wouldn't recommend anyone taking this weather it's a single guy a couple or family avoid much better options are available that offer better value and services onboard I won't name them in this review but we went whale watching 3 times since here and this was the worst boat altough you do have one shinning light in a dire abis of mediocrity and that's a red headed lady think her name was Lima or Hima and I have to mention her in particular as she went above and beyond for guests onboard and provide great customer service and general service and I couldn't fault her in one way.

Terrible trip, only redeeming factor is seeing the dolphins and whales. A kid vomited all over my mum and son, covered their bags & legs, nobody helped clear it up, we were told there were only enough life vests for women, vegetarian option was a tray of frozen veg(I was told it was omelette on booking) and the meat option was no better. The boat was absolutely rammed, only about 2/3 of people could sit down and a lot of pushing and barging - a 20 min swim stop was allowed during dinner which wasn’t ideal. Queue for dinner was wrapped around the ship, people almost falling over with hot plates. Coach to trip was over 2.5hrs, driver had aircon on full blast, we were all wrapped in towels shivering - coach driver stopped off in petrol station 15 mins away from the port for some reason where we sat for 20 mins. Don’t waste your money, I’ve been on a lot of boat trips and this was by far the worst, and the most expensive!

I had the best 4 1/2 hr trip on the Royal Delfin and found our hosts very hospitable. I managed to get some beautiful photos and people were guiding me in order to get them.
