What to expect
Laxey
A stop to view the largest working water wheel in the world known as Lady Isabella. Built in 1854 to pump water from the mines. The wheel has a 72-foot-6-inch (22.1 m) diameter, is 6 feet (1.8 m) wide and revolves approximately three times per minute.
Kirk Maughold Church is one of the oldest churches on the Island and it is the site of vast importance for the Island's history, heritage and culture with elements dating back to the sixth century. The Church also contains a large number of historically important Celtic crosses from the early Christian period. It was commissioned as a church in the 12th century by Viking King Olaf I.
Ramsey
Ramsey is a coastal town in the north of the Isle of Man. It is the second largest town on the island after Douglas .It has one of the biggest harbours on the island, and has a prominent derelict pier, called the Queen's Pier. Ramsey is also known as "Royal Ramsey" due to royal visits by Queen Victoria.
St Johns
Visit St John's Royal Chapel and the famous Tynwald Hill ancient meeting place of the Tynwald Parliament. The four-tiered hill is one of the Island’s most distinctive landmarks and a signal of the Isle of Man’s independence as a self-governing crown dependency. The hill, which measures around 12 feet high, is thought to be made from piles of stones bonded together with soil from all of the Island’s 17 ancient parishes.
Peel is a seaside town and small fishing port in the Isle of Man. It is distinguished by its Viking castle located on St. Patrick’s Isle which was once home to Christian missionaries, Viking warriors and kings. The castle was constructed in the 11th century.
Niarbyl is a secluded beauty spot just south of Dalby Village on the Island’s west coast and of geological interest. Discover the peaceful bay with its rolling hills, thatched cottages and dramatic coastal paths leading to White Beach. On a clear day you may be able to see the Mountains of Mourne in Ireland. Spot seabirds, seals and possibly basking sharks, particularly on calm sunny days.
Cregneash
Cregneash is a living illustration of a farming and crofting community in the 19th and early 20th century. You will see plough horses, Loghtan sheep, shorthorn cows, pigs and Manx cats.
Castletown
The original capital of the Island - home of Castle Rushen, The Peggy Story, The Old House of Keys and the Old Grammar School. Castle Rushen, is one of the best preserved medieval castles in the world.
