Jerash is located about 30 miles north of the capital Amman, and the ruins of the old city have been very carefully preserved to avoid damage and show authenticity. Some interesting sights to see include the hippodrome, a partially restored Roman-era stadium, the Temple of Artemis, which was dedicated to the patron goddess of the city, and the Jerash Archeological Museum.
