    Memorial of the Berlin Wall

    Your professional, local guide will walk you through the official Berlin Wall Memorial Site. See the barrier that tore a city in two and a recreation of the ‘death strip’ – a fortified no-man’s land to prevent people escaping from East to West. Learn about the East German Secret Police, the Stasi, and the psychological oppression they subjected the East German people to. Pay tribute to those who lost their lives attempting to cross the Wall, and visit the site of several underground tunnels used successfully by escapees. Finally we head to the site where Konrad Schumann, a teenage East German border guard, defected to the West days after the border was closed, and learn how the Berlin Wall came down on the 9th November 1989.
