    We had a great ride. The pick up and drop off were easy and James made the trip informative and entertaining. It was a beautiful day and the trail is fantastic, with some great views. A compulsory stop for a salted caramel doughnut at the Pembroke Patisserie and a ride around the Wanaka foreshore rounded out the day. Definitely recommended.

    My husband and I did this bike ride today. James collected us, and on the drive to the start location gave an insightful commentary on the area, and great instructions. The ebikes worked perfectly and make the ride comfortable. To say the views are spectacular is really an understatement. Being outdoors in such a magnificent location was awesome.

    James looked after us very well and was a pleasure to meet. The bikes were well maintained and perfect for the task. The instructions were clear and just what was needed to avoid getting off track.

    Beautiful scenery. The bikes "Cleo" and "Claude" were really good bikes and very enjoyable to ride. James was excellent in his preparation and knowledge and was very helful with any queries we had.

    James and David made our day! We loved the quick responses via WhatsApp, explanation of the route, setting up the bikes for our children to our specifics needs. Even going the 'extra mile' to pickup our sons bike when his energy ran out. :)

    What to expect

    nzbiketrails luxury shuttle will pick you up from Wanaka and transport you to Hawea. This is approximately a 30km ride. The official trail grading is Grade 1-2 and is classed as 'Family Friendly' trail. The trail is a gravel trail alongside the river. nzbiketrails recommends e-bikes on all of our trails. We will provide an overview of the route, safety briefing and a test ride to ensure that your bike is comfortable for you with the right seat height. You will then have the rest of the day to explore the local area on your bike and make stops on the way back to Wanaka. Our favourite stop is the patisserie in Albert Town – an award-winning bakery. This is approximately half-way through your ride. On arrival in Wanaka nzbiketrails will then pick up your bikes at the original pickup location by 4pm. Our e-bikes are suitable for Children 8 years+ who are over 140cm and are confident riders capable of using gears on a bike. We recommend young families book either the 0900hrs or 1030hrs shuttles allowing plenty of time to ride back to Wanaka.
