What to expect

Come spend a day forging out a chef knife and go home with your very own hand-forged chef knife. Made from high carbon steel with a Japanese wa handle. In this class, which is suitable for beginners, you will experience shaping your own knife with hammer and fire, as well as learn a bit about the forge, anvil, tools and techniques used in blacksmithing. In this workshop, we will forge out your own chef knife, heat-treat it yourself, grind it to shape and attach a pre-made Japanese wa handle. Things we cover in our classes - The whole Blacksmith knife building process from start to finish Hammer Techniques Forging Techniques Designing a knife Shaping the knife Heat treating carbon steel in the gas forge Hand grinding techniques on the 2x72 grinder Time management Knife instruction and care How to advertise yourself and your product How to take photos of your products to get the most interest How to price your products Workshop safety and OHS This class is beginner-friendly, no experience is required.
