What to expect

On our half-day tour we will begin our trip from Punta Arenas at approximately 8:30 AM, along a path that borders the Strait of Magellan in a southerly direction, towards the historic Fort Bulnes. On the way we can see fields with their typical constructions, coves with fishermen, and a large marine birdlife such as cormorants, pilpilenes, canyons, and chorlos among others. We will make a stop at the Geographic Landmark that represents the center of Continental, Insular and Antarctic Chile. Then we will go through native forests to the sector of Puerto del Hambre, named after the tragic death of all its inhabitants, who tried to colonize the strait in 1584 but died of starvation in such an inhospitable place. We will continue on our way to Santa Ana, where Fort Bulnes is located. This fort is the reconstruction of that first fort inaugurated by the Schooner Ancud in 1843, during the government of Manuel Bulnes and then abandoned to create the city of Punta Arenas. Please note that this is a self-guided tour, allowing you to explore at your own pace
