What to expect
Lata Iskandar is a waterfall along the trunk road from Tapah to Cameron Highlands, located about 25-km before Ringlet. The waterfall cascades over several tiers of granite slopes, with the last drop at 25 meters high flowing into a small pool below, before resuming its journey as a narrow stream. On weekends, the waterfall is overrun by tourists and local visitors. They congregate tightly under the cold shower of the falls, or perch themselves for photos along its rocky ledges. Ramshackle shops and stalls, nestled along the main road facing Lata Iskandar, provide shopping opportunities for ethnic souvenirs, tribal handicrafts, strange herbs, tropical fruits and even aphrodisiacs.
Boh Tea Plantation
BOH Plantations was founded in 1929 by J.A. Russel, a British businessman during the British colonial era in Malaya. He was optimistic of the tea plantation business due to huge demands despite of the world-wide Great Depression at that time. As a result of the potential, he applied for and was granted a concession of land for his first tea garden in Habu, Cameron Highlands. BOH Tea Plantation is a must-visit place when you are in Cameron Highlands Scenic, tranquil & cool fresh air! The road journey to the BOH Tea Plantation is quite an adventure itself. Boh Tea Plantation has a total of 8000 acres planted with tea. The largest tea plantation in Southeast Asia. Road is narrow and winding. Do give a honk or two while negotiating a corner to let oncoming traffic know there is a car coming. Gets kind of fun to honk the horn after a while. Put narrow roads aside, the view of green rolling hills, with the neat regular rows of tea plants, is truely breathtaking & refreshing ! Many a times, you may want to stop your car, and just walk in the tea plantation and pick some tea leafs yourself. The Sg Palas 'ummph!' BOH TEA Plantation offers a FREE guided factory tour of how the tea leaf is processed. Don't forget to visit a very nice BOH TEA SHOP nearby & pamper yourself with a nice cup of tea, cakes & enjoy the enchanting ambience & view of the BOH TEA Plantation.
Big Red Strawberry Farm, also known as Taman Agro Tourism, is an agricultural center growing strawberries and organic salad-based vegetables on a steep hill slope overlooking Brinchang town center. Accessible by a backdoor route from Star Regency Hotel (signboards along the main road, same direction as Cactus Valley), the farm is one of Brinchang's most popular tourist attractions. It features a large cafe, product shop, vegetable market and strawberry picking activities. Hydroponically grown strawberries that visitors can pick seasonally, plus a cafe & gift shop.
Located in Cameron Highlands, Pahang, Cactus Valley is one of the biggest and most popular tourist destination located here. Sam Poh Buddhist Temple located in Brinchang. It built high on a hill overlooking Brinchang town. Due to its location, the temple has a good view of Brinchang town and the houses that dot the little hills surrounding Brinchang. Sam Poh Temple built in 1972, is is the 4th largest Buddhist temple in the country. Amongst others, it houses a large statue of Lord Buddha, the founder of Buddhism. The temple is quite pretty and has been well maintained by residents and monks. Surrounded by a bright yellow wall, the temple is serene and peaceful. Inside are lots of different statues, both Buddhist and Chinese, and incense burning in the background in memory of those passed on. Remove your shoes before entering the temple halls.
The Night Market is a popular shopping attraction among visitors that occurs every Friday and Saturday in Tanah Rata, starting from early evening till late night. Moved from its original location in Brinchang town, this weekend bazaar known locally as 'Pasar Malam' now sits on a site at Golden Hills along Jalan Sungai Ruil. Similar to the daily market at Kea Farm, native products of Cameron Highlands are sold abundantly, including strawberries, vegetables, fruits, tea blends, ornamental plants and colorful souvenirs. The Night Market is also a culinary adventure - a tantalising exhibit of hawker stall food from different cultures across Malaysia.
