What to expect
Meet your guide outside the train station in Camogli and start exploring the historic center strolling along its charming “Carugi” (alleys). Learn about the history and culture of the village while sampling a variety of delicious tastings. Continue down the streets through town to the sea, past colorful houses and shops. You’ll be rewarded with beautiful views of the coast.
Visit the Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta dating to the 12th century, which like a shrine holds the treasures of the small fishermen community. The Basilica stands on what is called the ancient medieval island, the fulcrum of the village, where the political and religious life of the hamlet was carried out in ancient times; today it represents the symbol of Camogli.
Learn about the history of Dragon’s Castle, built on a promontory near the edge of town in the 13th century to protect the village against pirates. Stroll along the seaside promenade and stop at the small harbor filled with fishing boats to grasp the soul of this unique place.
