Museum was closed due to no power however we were not contacted to advise of this. We spent 84US dollars on round trip in a taxi from our hotel (Moon Palace the Grand)

As we were staying close by we could walk to the museum, the ticket was advertised as a "Skip-the-Line Ticket", we could avoid the payment booth and go straight to the turnstiles. When we arrived we had to show our ticket at the payment booth as al the turnstiles were taped off and the glass doors at the side were either open or missing. The lifts were not working but there is a spiral ramp up to the floor where the museum is. There were boards on the walls around the museum detailing the Mayan history and the history of Quintana Roo, the writing was in both Spanish and English. The display cabinets held many artefacts but the descriptions were all in Spanish. There were tools, cooking utensils, jewelry, carvings from the buildings and sections of stonework. There was a video explaining the the Mayan culture and its demise following the arrival of the Spanish. The museum was interesting but it would have been helpful to have the descriptions and explanations of the artefacts in English.
Whilst the museum was interesting it is a bit run down, lifts and turnstiles not working, rusting/missing lights on the spiral ramp, some toilets out of use.
Following the museum visit you are directed to walk through the forest area to see the remains of Mayan buildings, the walk culminates at a small pyramid. there are description boards by the buildings that are in English. Watch out for the numerous Iguana's that sun themselves on the buildings and pathways through the forest.
