What to expect

All of our pottery experiences are one-time, two-hour sessions guided by local Santa Fe artists and geared toward travelers, newbies, and anyone looking for a fun introduction to pottery. At the end of class, students will recycle their pieces, but you need not walk away empty handed. Each student gets $15 off of a piece from our gallery, which is full of pottery handcrafted by our teachers. In the wheel-throwing experience, students will dive into the most popular method of making ceramics. Working at the wheel is a meditative, yet challenging process. In this two-hour class, our potters will take you through the process of throwing a piece of pottery on the wheel. In our hand-building experience, students will learn the ancient techniques of working with clay by hand through sculpting, coil-building, or slab-building. The slowness of these methods allow for deeper connection with the material and total freedom of expression through clay. Experiences are led by our professional ceramic artists who volunteer their time. Cost includes a two-hour experiential class complete with libations, clay, materials, and tools.
