Our “tour guide” was a rickshaw driver from the 1950s and he was on point with the storytelling. We learned so much from him about the Chinatown of yesteryear. Highly suggest the tour if you have time to spare.

These are interactive exhibits with an easy mix of interpretation. It’s easy to enjoy for a wide age range, and we walked away feeling like we knew much more about Chinatown.

A beautifully presented story of how the Chinese arrived and flourished in Singapore. Many rooms and floors full of artifacts covering all aspects from arrival, daily life, celebrations, food history and so much more. We worth a visit!

Wonderful display of shophouse lives in Chinatown in c.1920s-1960s.
The rather accurate re-created displays of homes then helped elderlies reminisce.
Love that they might have some actual vintage items curated from some collectors.
So amazing when an uncle in the queue was sharing that he used to live in one, and also telling us where the best brand of sewing machines are from, etc.
Best for young and old to enjoy the memories and experience the past together.
This place is intentionally wheelchair-friendly (lifts) for the seniors to join in the fun.
Good to learn from the past, to be grateful for the current.

Highly recommend. This was really good. Better than expected. Despite visiting Singapore many times, this was the first time I had come here and glad I did. Singapore’s Chinatown neighbourhood, the Chinatown Heritage Centre (CHC) comprises three beautifully restored shophouses across three levels, serving as a gateway to the rich stories, spirited culture, and resilience of the community that built this historic district. What I really liked was the way it was done. Through immersive exhibits, poignant narratives, and vibrant programmes, the CHC brings Chinatown's colourful past to life, showcasing the area's dynamic evolution and connecting its past with the present. The exhibition is presented in a way where you feel like you're stepping back in time as you walk through the shophouses. Information is simple and easy to follow so you're not overloaded. I learnt a lot. Great for children too. Ticket price for an adult was 25 SGD (June, 2025). Staff were friendly and pleasant. Not too busy at all. Take a wrap or a throw as the air conditioning was very high in some parts.
