What to expect

The boat The boat you will go to the Delta is an open boat, equipped with banquets with backrests and cushions for as high a comfort as possible with great stability and safety. The boat is used only for tourism. Every person in the boat will receive a life jacket. The boat is NOT covered, has no roof, it has no tarpaulin, shade, coil or other inventions to prevent you from seeing the fabulous nature around you and flying birds. It's a boat, as you can see in the photos above. All of our boats were built specifically for trips to the Danube Delta, they were thought to be able to enter the beautiful, wild, shallow water areas where no big boat can enter. The trip: Basically, on a day-long WINTER trip, you can see a good part of the Danube Delta under the COLD domination, feel the pulse of this world's unique area, in a landscape that only few have the privilege to see it. We want to show you another Delta, a Delta that even if it's frozen, is full of life, full of birds and animals that carry on their lives without worrying about the cold. We start from Tulcea and going to Sontea - Nebunu - Baclanesti - Furtuna - Mila23. On canals and lakes that are NOT frozen. The route is not a fixed one, but we'll adjust it according to ice and weather conditions. We’ll drive very slowly, to have time to see the landscapes and birds, to understand what is so different in the Delta compared to the mainland. At Mila23 Village, we’ll warm you up with a boiled tuica (local brandy) or hot tea if you need to drive the car on that day. Optionally, you can also try an authentic Lipovan lunch, a hot fish soup goes great with the outside cold. On the way back we focus again on the fauna and landscape and get back to Tulcea before sunset. Our travel speed is SLOW, we are specialized in trips. Our boats go at an average speed of about 15 km/h and stop at all the points of interest for enjoying the wonderful landscapes, for some pictures of the Delta fauna. Personal equipment: You need a GOOD personal equipment for this trip, the low temperatures during this period are even more severely felt on the boat . Clothes, I mean to serious clothes, FOR WINTER, you must have at least a decent ski suit, thick jacket, wind and rain resistance, thick pants. Footwear is very important. A very good solution is the ice fishing boots (boots in various materials, with a thick sock in the inside). Good quality variants have a well-insulated sole and a thick sock, if you also have quality ski socks, you will be ok. On the head I recommend a serious cap. The Russian caps with ears are the most effective. Sunglasses will be very useful in sunny days or just as protection against the wind.
