The day trip overall was excellent and I would have rated it as Excellent if the tour guide would have stopped communication with our group once the tour was finished. Once the tour was over our group of friends showed gratitude with a generous tip. Perhaps that wasn’t enough or it got the greedy juices of our guide flowing because once the guide heard we were looking to visit another city, going from Cuenca to Baños Agua Santa, he excitedly offered to personally drive us. He told us it would be at least a 10 hour drive and because of that the cost it would be $230.00. Well we paid because we felt he was being sincere with us. A day later he offered up his buddy to “personally” drive us from Quito to Atacames which he said would be a 13 hour drive and now for a hefty $240.00. Well to our dismay we found out this guy was totally taking advantage of us. He grossly overestimated the distance of travel to justify his prices. We were so disappointed. He really seemed genuine. Viator, perhaps there needs to be stricter rules for your tour guides. Stop taking advantage of trusting foreigners!!!

my most memorable was he was busy on his phone and stayed in his suv while I knowing no Spanish was supposed to go shopping in a town where nobody understood a single thing I had to say. I walked info 3 stores in the town of jewelry and couldn't get them to understand what I was asking so I just decided it was a waste of my time and frustrating there was a reason for English speaking guide. we went to a flower shop we did not go to any place were they made instruments . it was not a great tour, the towns looked like they were interesting ,but that was all I got looked like not were.

What a great time we had! Our guide, Estéban was well-versed in all the local culture. We had a very immersive experience with him. His sense of humor and his command of the English language made our time with him extra special. He was able to communicate our preferences precisely to the local craftsmen, which resulted in our leaving the various shops completely satisfied with our purchases. Thank you for a rare glimpse of the centuries-old traditions and arts of the rich Ecuadorian culture and the beauteous countryside!

I been travel occasionally to Cuenca for few years and passing by this couple of villages before without stopping to see what they offer.
Finally this trip I booked a trip into this places and was a great experience to see on firsthand how artesian make their Kraft products.
Very interesting and colorful.
