Our guide, Melissa, was phenomenal. Beyond being warm and welcoming, she’s a walking encyclopedia of Panama’s diverse heritage from Afro-Caribbean (frontillana) to Chinese influences — and how these threads weave together in the local cuisine. She didn’t just explain the dishes; she told the stories behind them.
We started at La Tapa del Coco, a vibrant celebration of Afro-Panamanian culture where every bite was packed with history, identity, and spice. Then we moved on to Cantina del Tigre, where modern Panamanian cuisine shines through bold flavors and refined presentations, beautifully blending the country’s culinary roots with contemporary twists.
The logistics were seamless timing, flow, and overall organization were beyond expectations. You could tell every detail was thoughtfully crafted to offer not just a tour, but a true experience.

I was very positively impressed with the choices of restaurants, it was convenient, easy and the walk was very fun and delightful. The menu chosen was absolutely delicious and I even felt quite full and content with quantities, flavors and varieties, all accompanied by stories behind the restaurants and dishes done so eloquently and joyful by Meli herself! The group was great too!

This food tour was so enjoyable! It was such a pleasurable, relaxed and friendly experience. The choice of restaurants was on point! I loved Tapa del coco with its afro panamanian dishes. I have never been there and now with Meli I coud go...
La cantina del tigre is also an excellent restaurant,so chic, and fun. Meli's tales , and stories about dishes were a great companion to the food.
I would this again for sure!
