A fascinating castle and well worth the time to visit. The views of Edinburgh from the cqstle are amazing, and the glimpse of what is must have been like to live in that era were eye-opening. We were there 2 hours and would recommend you allocate at least 4 hours. We found the available audio tour only somewhat helpful, and we got much insight from a tour guide at a lunch table next to us. We would recommend engaging a private tour guide to escort you through the castle. Be prepared for some major uphill walking, and take your time walking up the Royal Mile to get to the castle; there are many shops and food venues to visit on your way up to the castle. Between the Royal Mile and the Castle, it would be easy to spend 6 hours on your visit.

We really enjoyed the tour of the Edinburgh Castle. It is a lot of walking and a lot to see. Give yourself plenty of time to see everything.

A little complicated to get the right one, you have to go through Viator messaging to get it after the purchase on the site. It's hard, but it's okay. Otherwise the castle itself is just fantastic. An audio guide is available and I enjoyed going around the castle alone, without a guide. We let ourselves be carried away by the very good infrastructure of the visit which offers us a complete tour and fascinating exhibitions without forgetting the breathtaking view.

Fantastic nice castle and a lot to see! Many people, so recommend going when it is a little quieter. There was a little waiting and control, when it gets so full. Very nice to get to the castle and see the view of the city. Buy tickets in advance!
