ewe booked this tour with Emo Travel. They picked us up from the hotel in Cairo and drove us to the GEM. Once there you have your ticket vouchers for the entry and guided tour. We visited the Tut Experience, is not historical, just a good video production. But the main thing is the Main Staircase, that takes you to different sections of life during the Pharaohs lives. Every thing is original, and at the end of the staircase you have a beautiful view of the Pyramids. They are adding new sections that you can visit. But even for the main hallway its worth the $15 a ticket. NOTE: they do not allow cameras, but you can take pictures with your phones.

Visited with Egypt to go tours , the museum is amazing and more is opening all the time, we had the immersive Tutankhamen experience and it was awesome , so realistic you felt you were back in time.
Although it is not fully open a visit is Definitely recommended

The Grand Egyptian Museum was newly opened and included in my private tour itinerary.
The museum itself was huge and impressive. Interesting architecture and designs encapsulating the concepts and nuisances of ancient Egyptian culture and designs.
The collection was dismay. Only the exhibition on the steps in the main lobby was available. The layout and display was dangerous as many artifacts were placed on the edge of steps, and visitors could easily fall while looking at them.
The special show was not amazing. The technology was surprisingly not the latest and the contents were weak. I was expecting a strong story on King Tut but it was more like a visual display for kids.
Perhaps the museum will be better in a few years when more exhibits are added and the show improved.

The actual tour had no english speaking tour driver; the car had no air condition.
The actual tour was apart of the bought ticket, that could have been bought on site or online.
The company had to be reminded that water and snacks were to be provided, during the drive to and from the site. There was no information provided, during the drive, about the history of anything.

Currently in it’s trial phase - absolute waste of money. The immersive experience is simply a 30min animated video that tells you nothing about the life of Tutankhamen. Sure the building is beautiful - but it should be free to enter at the moment given there is nearly nothing on display. They are throwing in a guided tour for free - but they are infrequent and we didn’t want to wait an hour given it takes less than that to see the number of items on display.
Not worth the money or time at this point. So very disappointed.

Amazing collection - but the building left me with question marks
First things first - DO NOT VISIT until the full grand opening in June if you are coming to see the Tutankhamun galleries. Their website states access is 'restricted' but this is, in fact, totally incorrect. The Tutankhamun galleries are completely and utterly closed and no access is permitted - very disappointing when you've travelled thousands of miles!
Anyway, apart from that it's clearly built to impress. It's an astonishingly vast space, it's very impressive and on a momumental scale like the pyramids themselves. But, on arrival l couldn't help feel if someone had briefed an architect to design an Egyptian inspired shopping mall in Las Vegas this is it exactly what it would look like. To complete the feel it even has a large retail park style car park outside and being positioned next to a freeway everything just felt well, like a retail park. The exterior is based on triangles and obviously a nod to the fabulous pyramids next door, but I just found it uninteresting and uninspiring.
The inside was much more impressive with fantastically vast and lofty spaces, but again I have to say it felt more like a shopping mall that happens to have a museum tucked away inside. It even had the cheesy shopping mall music everywhere you went!
Nobody will deny the importance and majesty of the collection inside. It is absolutely fantastic. But I found it annoying that nothing was dated - yes they said Middle Kingdom or which dynasty but I don't know what that means in terms of date.
All said I feel it's too big for what's in there. So much unnecessary space I can't help wondering if it would have been money better spent helping the people of Cairo, a large proportion of which visibly live in poverty.
I went to the old Egyptian Museum the following day and I found it much more engaging, much more atmospheric and with a broader variety of objects. Although the new museum is a must see perhaps I also realised that one of the issues of the new museum for me is its scale, it overwhelms the collection and the building itself distracts rather than complements.

I love this museum. There is a lot still to happen, i.e. more artifacts to fill it up, but it is huge, and very airy. I would love to go back when it is more mature.
That said, the artifacts there currently are impressive, and well worth the visit.

Very large and nice building built recently.
Items are still in transformation stage from the old museums.
Not yet officially opened but soft opened for visitors.
Entry fee is 1,200 EGP for expat adults and kids can have student ticket for half the price.

Magnificent building only marred by typical Egyptian B.S. The Museum opens at 8.30 am but the main galleries don’t open until nine. Another 30 minutes standing in front of closed doors. The first thing you learn in Egypt is how to wait!

The overall experience was ok. The staff is not well trained and bit rude. It’s just like old Egyptian museum but in bigger building. No new interactive experience. The the Abu Dhabi Louvre or even old Egyptian museum is better then grand museum

The museum was very huge and has 12 rooms containing a lot of monuments.
Rooms were in the 3rd floor, the stairs that will take you to the room also has monuments on them to amuse you while going up.
The museum also near the pyramids.
Last time to enter the museum was 4 pm as the tour inside will took about 2 hours and the museum will be closed at 6 pm

The tour guide Waleed was a nice and friendly person. He clearly communicated to us that he will provide some explanation and then give us time to further explore the museum on our own. We would have preferred if he spent more time explaining the history and talk about different objects in the museum. The museum is not fully opened (20% available). Overall we were happy with our tour and our guide.

A splendid half day tour of the magnificent Grand Egyptian Museum. Fabulous architectural features reflecting the great Pyramids of Giza. Inside full of treasures brought to life by the clear explanations of Mohamed Osman. Mohamed Osman’s experience and historical knowledge made our trip more meaningful and understandable. We plundered his banks of knowledge and were richly rewarded.
Sadly this was our last touring day but the GEM a fitting place to finish our exploration into ancient Egypt, We’re very grateful to the Egyptian Tours Portal for organising a very enjoyable and entertaining fortnight

What a fantastic tour !! Mr Walid , our Egyptologist guide , was so knowledgeable that he made the Grand Egyptian Museum come alive for us . His in depth explanation of Egyptian ancient history was fascinating and I would recommend him to anyone with an interest in history who wants to visit this phenomenal place !
