What to expect
One of the first stops will be at the gate of the wall called the Alcázar since the Alcázar of Ávila was located there, which has not survived the passage of time. In front is the Plaza de Santa Teresa, also well known for being there the Romanesque Church. of Saint Peter
Puerta Del Rastro
We will make a short stop without going down at the Puerta del Rastro located in the southern Lienzo of the Wall, where we will see a fantastic view of the well-known Paseo del Rastro and on the other side the Ambles Valley and we will enter the interior of the Wall to get to know the Avila palatial
The Dávila Palace is the first palace that we find as soon as we cross the Puerta del Rastro, in addition to being one of the oldest palaces in the city of the 13th century, its viewing gallery above the wall gate stands out. At this place we stop in front of it but without going down.
Tower of Los Guzmanes
Another of the most interesting palaces in the city from the 16th century is the Torreón de los Guzmanes, where a fantastic museum of the Vettones, ancient settlers of these lands, has been installed. The entrance to the museum is not part of the tour. Along with this palace we will see two other palaces that we will also tell their story, which are Superunda and the Alamarza
Church and birthplace of Saint Teresa of Jesus
One of the stops on the tour is the Basilica of the Saint built on the Birthplace of Saint Teresa, we will enter and visit the Church, we will see a patio of the old house and the birth bed of Saint Teresa located in a beautiful chapel, we will also visit the relic room where the famous incorrupt finger of Saint Teresa is, all accompanied by the explanations of our guide. From here we will leave for the Mirador de los Cuatro Postes.
The second drop-off stop of the tour is at the famous Mirador de los 4 Postes, where we will see one of the most beautiful panoramic views in the world, seeing how the Wall embraces the entire city. We will visit the Monument of the 4 Posts and this place is where they are located. Ávila's lyrics and thus be able to increase the photo album.
We will pass by the Church and Convent of La Encarnación and you will hear the history of this place, we will stop but without going down. During the tour there is no possibility of entering the Museum
From the Convent of La Encarnación to the next stop, which is the Puerta de San Vicente and Cathedral, we will see the North Canvas of the Wall and tell its fabulous story.
Within the tour itinerary we will pass by the Ávila Cathedral called Cathedral of the Savior, here we will pass and listen to the explanations of the audio guide and the comments of the driver-guide, there is time to take photos but without getting off the tuk tuk. There is no possibility of visiting the Cathedral during this tour.
We will make a brief stop to see the famous Plaza de Mercado Chico, if your tour coincides with Friday you will be able to see its Friday market where the producers of the area come to sell their products, this market dates back to the 15th century since the Kings Catholics granted the city the establishment of a free market.
Puerta Del Carmen
Another of the stops with Bajada is at Puerta del Carmen where we will find another of the best panoramic views of the Wall in which we see the entire northern canvas as well as a beautiful landscape. Very emblematic place since it is one of the most frequently published images of the Wall.
Stopping in front of one of the best preserved Romanesque churches in Europe, with perfect lighting at night.
