    Exploring the Fener and Balat districts with Hasan, who spent his childhood there, was an incredible experience. He knows everyone so well and helps you connect with the locals in a way that feels genuine and special. The food we tried was by far the most delicious we’ve had in Istanbul. Hasan has an aura that makes you feel welcomed from the very start, offering a one-of-a-kind hospitality. On top of that, he shared a guidebook with us that covered all the essentials of Istanbul. It’s an amazing resource, far beyond anything you can find on the market. His deep knowledge of Istanbul and Turkish culture, especially at such a young age, is truly impressive. If you’re ever visiting Istanbul, this is the one experience you absolutely must book!

    I booked this experience for my family and my father, who is originally from Turkey, and OMG! I’ve never seen him this happy. We connected with so many wonderful people in the neighborhood and enjoyed countless delicious bites throughout the tour. It was such a calming experience, yet we learned so much about Istanbul—it’s amazing that a tour like this exists in this vibrant city. If you’re visiting Istanbul and want to experience something truly unique while gaining an authentic understanding of local life and culture, this is the tour for you.     Do it. Do it. Do it. This is the perfect introduction to Istanbul. Mehmet is so friendly and knowledgeable. He instantly made us feel welcome and excited to be in Istanbul. It is a big city and can be a little daunting for a first time visitor. He took us on the ferry to Balat. A colorful and down to earth part of the city. He treated us to delicious local dishes such as Manti, Borek and a delicious hot drink called Salep. He gave us a full history of Istanbul and Turkey and told us about his local neighborhood. He also gave us directions and tips about visiting the bigger tourist attractions. It is worth it just to have these insider tips. I cannot recommend this enough. He is a great person and it was a pleasure meeting him.

    I chose this tour in the hope of seeing a local neighborhood through the eyes of someone who grew up there, and Hasan delivered. He's charismatic and enthusiastic, and practically a celebrity among kids playing on the street who came up to greet him as we walked around with his friend Mehmet. Both Hasan and Mehmet were eager to share what they love about Balat, a hilly suburb with charming streets first made popular by IG. Hasan has crafted a relaxed and interesting tour with fun food stops, and it felt like a new friend showing us his neighborhood rather than a guided tour. Definitely recommend this for your first day in Istanbul if you want to immerse yourself with a unique local perspective. Come hungry tho there will be plenty of new foods to try
