Really good fun day out for everyone. Nice and clean zoo. We had a really good day out, not too busy during half term. We saw lots of animals. The enclosures were kept clean and tidy. However, there is not enough staff around as some of the kids were disturbing the animals and I feel like if there was some staff around then this could be avoided. I wish there was more activities in the Summer Holidays.

We went to the wildlife park - granddaughter, Mum and Nanny. Was a really lovely park that appears to respects their animals. The areas where the animals lived seemed large and well kept. Most of the animals were very active and seemed happy. The gorillas were our favourite - they were very entertaining with their antics.
The park is well laid out but lots of walking for little legs. Some parts of the park had very steep hills making it tricky for wheelchair users and pushchairs.
There was plenty of places for picnics and a couple of cafes and toilets dotted around the park.
I would recommend this wildlife park for anybody wanting a day out with animals.

We came here today for Mother’s Day as a family but unfortunately left pretty disappointed. Firstly there was no parking, no organisation of parking, yet we had booked tickets. Once in, we Queued for the Cafe to grab some coffees and panini for 20 mins only to be told when I got to the till hot drinks were a 20 min wait and the panini’s we wanted they didn’t have (this was at 11.30 so before the lunchtime rush!) Then to top it off we went to the next door cafe near the elephants to grab a burger and chips instead, which we were told a 30 min wait and they didn’t serve hot drinks! Took around 20 mins in the end but it wasn’t worth the wait very poor quality. None of the ice cream places were open, on the first hottest/sunniest day of the year.. Seeing the animals was near non existent except an elephant and a few monkeys. Unfortunately we will not be returning

It was mostly enjoyable and we visited as entry to Howletts was included in the price of our Port Lympne, so we didn’t pay any extra to go.
Many of the enclosures had extensive weeds/vines growing across the cages which made it difficult to see inside. It appears this is a lack of maintenance rather than any part of the animals’ habitats (as the overgrowth was on the outside of the cages rather than the plants inside).
We also saw two people in the lion cub enclosure cuddling and filming them. They were definitely not staff and it appeared they were on some sort of experience. Whilst I appreciate the cubs have been hand reared, it didn’t sit well that the park were seemingly profiting from people actually going into their enclosure and handling them. The reason we chose to go to port lympne was their advertised focus on giving the animals as much of a natural habitat and experience as possible, as well as their rewilding work. This didn’t seem to be the case at Howletts.
