What to expect

You can take a basic, authentic calligraphy lesson at the Yokohama Port Opening Memorial Hall (Jack's Tower), one of Yokohama's traditional buildings. You will be given a model to use on the spot, where you can write your favorite characters or a single character of your name in kanji. You will then copy this into a beautiful Japanese paper fan(uchiwa) as calligraphy art, which you can take home as a souvenir. At the end of the lesson, you will enjoy Japanese tea (you can choose between sencha or hojicha) and Japanese sweets. You will also be able to take home a beginner's guide to calligraphy in English.
