While its purpose is presumed to be the burial site of Khufu, only an empty sarcophagus resides within. Originally towering at about 482 feet (147 meters) and boasting four sides measuring around 755 feet (230 meters) each, the pyramid's stepped sides were once adorned with polished limestone casing stones. These stones, weighing a remarkable 15 tons each and meticulously interlocked, would have lent a radiant sheen to the structure under the sun.
