What to expect
Iwakuni Station
The tour will meet at Iwakuni Station. After meeting your guide, you will get on the bus to start your fun Iwakuni tour!
As you get off the bus, you will see the Kintai Bridge in front of you! The five overlapping arches are known as one of the most beautiful bridges in Japan.
Kikko Park
Crossing the Kintai Bridge, visitors will find Yoshika Park, which utilizes the ruins of the residence of the samurai who once ruled the area. In the park, you will find seasonal flowers as well as shrines related to the samurai, which will satisfy your curiosity.
Iwakuni Castle
From the park, take the ropeway up the mountain to Iwakuni Castle on top of the mountain. From inside the gondola, you can enjoy beautiful views of Iwakuni.
Iwakuni
From inside the gondola of the ropeway, you can see Kintai Bridge, the clear Nishiki River, the city center of Iwakuni, and the calm blue of the Seto Inland Sea at the far end. Enjoy the view like a box garden separated by mountains.
After getting off the ropeway and walking a short distance, you will arrive at Iwakuni Castle. Iwakuni Castle was the castle of the Kikkawa clan, a warrior clan that ruled Iwakuni and the surrounding area. Inside the castle, you can see armor and other items related to the Kikkawa clan, and from the top floor you can enjoy a panoramic view of Iwakuni and feel like a feudal lord.
Iwakuni Castle Ropeway Summit Station
The return trip from the castle is also a slow ropeway ride. Enjoy the scenery as you descend.
The tour heads home through the park and Kintai Bridge. Depending on the time of the tour and the time of year, the Kintai Bridge on the return trip may be beautiful in the dusk.
Kintaikyo Bus Center
The tour ends with a bus transfer to Iwakuni Station.
