What to expect
Fort Kochi
Fort Kochi serves as a vibrant amalgamation of cultures, which is evident in its culinary offerings. As we stroll through the bustling streets, we encounter food stalls that present an array of Gujarati and Marwari snacks. Our journey will commence with Jalebi & Fafda, a traditional pairing of sweet and savory flavors. Following this, we will turn our attention to Khaman Dhokla, a delicately soft and spongy steamed cake crafted from gram flour. Additionally, we will be on the lookout for establishments that offer the renowned Kozhikodan Halwa, available in a variety of flavors.
25 minutes
A brief stroll leads you to the vicinity of Paradesi Synagogue. You will find yourself enveloped by the scents of spices. Although these are not meant to be consumed immediately, the fragrance of fresh spices offers a unique experience. Here, you can discover some of the finest quality pepper, cardamom, and cloves. A standout feature of this area is a revitalizing homemade ginger soda, ideal for refreshing your palate.
25 minutes
Princess Street
This area serves as one of the primary centers in Fort Kochi, featuring a variety of cafes and boutiques. We will begin with Seafood from a street vendor: Numerous stalls offer freshly caught and fried fish, prawns, and squid. Another highlight is Kulukki Sarbath. This is a shaken lemonade infused with a spicy touch from green chilies and ginger. It is exceptionally refreshing! We will then proceed to Kashi Art Cafe, renowned for its atmosphere and delectable cakes. It is an excellent place for a brief respite and a cup of coffee.
25 minutes
Mattancherry
This is the place where you can truly experience local life. We will enter simple-looking stalls, as they frequently offer the most genuine snacks. Among the finest dishes available are Pazham Pori, also known as Banana Fritters. This is a traditional Keralan evening snack. Ripe plantains are dipped in a flour batter and deep-fried. Next on the plate is Parippu Vada, or Lentil Fritters. This is a savory and crunchy snack made from lentils and spices. A steaming glass of Chai serves as the perfect accompaniment to your snacks.
25 minutes
Chinese Fishing Nets
These renowned nets represent Fort Kochi and provide insight into traditional fishing methods.
25 minutes
We will stroll to the open space adjacent to the Chinese Fishing Nets. The Freshly Caught Seafood is the main attraction of this location. We will sample fresh fish, crab, or prawns sourced directly from the fishermen and have it prepared to your preference at one of the nearby stalls. Ice Gola or Shaved Ice serves as an ideal conclusion to your culinary journey, providing a sweet and refreshing finish. Savor your last indulgence while observing the sunset over the Arabian Sea and the renowned Chinese Fishing Nets.
