What to expect
Pickup will be from your desired location within the city / airport or cruise terminal. After pickup of the journey to the lava caves takes on average 2 hours. There will be a small stop for the restroom along the way, with the opportunity to buy lunch or snacks for the day.

You will venture off the beaten track deep into the lava fields to a remote cave that many do not know exist. Today’s tour starts with a pick-up from your accommodation in Reykjavik. Once you arrive at the site, you will take a short hike to reach the cave. The walk takes around 45 minutes through rough terrain. Upon reaching the cave, it is time to put on your safety equipment. You will spend around two hours exploring the unique lava tube and learning about this natural geology. Today’s sights include lava fields, lava tubes and caves, volcanic rock formations, stalagmites, and stalactites. You might even come across rare lava hair, also called Pele’s hair, which are long, delicate glass strands formed during the eruption.
Once you have completed your tour through the magnificent caves you will start your return journey back to the city. There is the possibility to stop along the way at a secret hot spring for bathing, you will need to bring a towel to dry off after. This special spot is very wild and has no toilets of changing rooms, and will require changing in the wild.
