Asan
Asan Tole is one of the Oldest daily markets of Kathmandu Valley. Junction of six streets, the market attracts locals for everything a Nepali needs to run a daily life from Yogurt to Yak's tail. It is here Cat Stevens wrote and compose his "Kathmandu" song in Hippy era-song in one of the tea-shop. It is a live Theatre for those who can meditate on the crowds and an opportunity for those who can stand the pushing and shoving of the crowds while shopping local things for relatively better price and quality.
Jana Bahal
Jana Bahal is a temple of Avalokiteshwara on the way to Kathmandu Durbar Sqaure from Asan Tole. It is popular for Jana Baha Dyo (called Seto Machhindranath, Avalokiteshwara, Karunamaya). It is one of the oldest Vajrayana Buddhist Monasteries knows as Kanaka Chaitya Mahavihar. The name Kanak Chaitya Mahavihar is from a chaitya of Kanakmuni Buddha in front of the temple, erected in the courtyard.
Known as Basantapur (City of Spring Season) Durbar Square is an ancient place of the Rulers of Kathmandu. It is one the UNESCO heritage sites of Nepal. The square is living example of Nepali architectural excellence of the Ancient Kathmandu valley in the form of palace buildings and and temples, including Living Goddess Kumari's temple.
Swayambunath Stupa is one of the ancient Buddhist shrines of the people of Nepal and of the Buddhist all over the world. It is a Stupa, naively referred to as a temple, built on the top of a hill. During clear weather one can see mountain range from the Stupa. The Stupa is popular for steps and the hordes of monkeys that are not aggressive when ignored. The stupa is among the UNESCO heritage sites of Nepal.
Largest spherical Buddhist Stupa in Nepal and one of the largest unique structure stupas in the world. It is one of the UNESCO heritage sites of Nepal.
The Charumati Vihara Stupa
One of the Ancient Buddhist Viharas of Kathmanu valley.
Temple of Lord Shiva who is also worshiped as the Lord of the Animal. It is an Ancient Temple of Sanatana Dharma practitioners. The evening ritual Aarati is the best thing of the day for the locals.
