Madeira Islands
Pick-up from the hotel is between 8:00 and 9:00 a.m. to start the day. The tour will begin with a stop at a viewpoint overlooking Funchal. Continue to Camacha, which is known for its wonderful wicker works, and pause to look around before taking a lovely drive up to Poiso, where the Laurissilva forest begins. After that, make your way to Pico do Arieiro's magnificent vistas. Pico do Arieiro, at 1818 meters, is the island's third-highest summit. Then there's Ribeiro Frio, which some belief to be the most beautiful site on the island. You will visit a trout farm and take a Levada walk to the Balces while you are here. Continue to the eastern half of the island, to the famed Pico do Facho viewpoint, after lunch. The views of Ponta de So Lourenco, Machico, and the airport are spectacular from here. On a clear day, the Desertas Islands, as well as Porto Santo, a tiny island near Madeira, may be seen. The final destination will be a well-known vista over Machico.
