This excursion is a must. Seeing the sunrise from the crater is absolutely breathtaking. Be aware that it is extremely cold and windy up there, so dress appropriately in layers. I also recommend mittens.
From the moment I made the reservation, the tour operators were two steps ahead with updates and reminders. They were punctual. Uncle Billy, our van driver, maneuvered the roads seamlessly. G, our tour guide, provided information about landscape, plants, wildlife, and what’s being done to preserve the natural habitat. It was almost an encyclopedic knowledge of the island.

Valley Isle Excursions did a really great job and this day was a highlight of our trip. Not having to worry about driving is really the way to go. They knew the perfect time to arrive and the best place to stand to view the sunrise. They also provided insulated ponchos, which we greatly appreciated. Even though we brought heavy jackets, it is cold and windy up there. The narration on the way down was very informative. Breakfast provided at The Plantation was great. My wife and I were pleasantly surprised as in our experience, “toss-in” meals with tours aren’t that great but this was really nice.

Our guide/driver Spencer was fantastic! We had a great time and the entire experience was well planned. The company thinks of everything needed to visit Haleakala for the sunrise. A great job by a great locally owned business!! Mahalo
