What to expect

1

Batik Tulis Celaket

We run through the area that is called Celaket. Celaket is a local residence area where all houses are coloured in Malang-batik style. It is in this kampong where local Malang batik is still produced. All areas in Indonesia have their own batik-style, so does Malang.

2

Jl. Parangtritis

We will cross one of the many tiny bridges used by pedestrians and motorbikes only. It gives you an outerspace feeling to cross such a bridge and you have great views over the layout of a city. As you can't stop on the bridge, we will choose the right moment to cross it.

3

Idjen Boulevard

Ijen Boulevard is one of Malang's most impressive streets; a wide lane with flower beds in the middle and bottle green swaying palms on the sides. The boulevard and the neighborhoods surrounding it, were constructed in the 1930s and designed by the famous Dutch architect Karsten. The neighborhood was designed not to be based on the origin of the people, but on their income.

4

Statue of National Hero Major Hamid Roesdi

Hamid Rusdi is an Indonesian hero born in Malang. He also died in Malang, while fighting Dutch troops for Indonesian's independence.

5

Katedral Malang, Santa Perawan Maria dari Gunung Karmel

The Roman Catholic cathedral is seat of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Malang. The cathedral was built in 1934 in the neo-gothic style and designed by architect L. Estourgie.

6

Kantor Kelurahan Oro Oro Dowo Kota Malang

After running Malang's most famous boulevard, we get back into local life, via the kampong behind Jl. Buring Dalam.

7

Kajoetangan Heritage Village

Just recently developed is Malang's "Kampoeng Heritage". A friendly city dwelling with loads of activities, styled houses and along Malang's water roads.

8

Toko Oen Malang

Toko Oen is one of Malang's oldest restaurants. The interior hasn't changed since the 1930s....

9

Malang City Square

Crossing Malang's city square - a refreshing moment with centuries old trees and some amazing architecture.

10

JL. Aries Munandar

Then we head back into the kampong...

11

Jodipan Colorful Village

Probably Malang's most famous kampung is Kampung Warna Warni. We will slow down our pace to enjoy all arts. Walking the glass-bridge is also a moment to take.

12

Arema Blue VIllage

Then we head into the amazingly blue kampong called Arema. Arema is Malang's football club. Another amazing friendly kampong with loads of art.

13
Alun Alun Tugu

Last object is Malang's second city square that actually is not a square but round. You will find statue Tugu - Malang's statue for independence, opened in 1953 by Indonesia's first president - in the pond with pink water lilies. Then we will end the tour in a local street restaurant that sells the most delicious Gado-Gado and Soto Ayam. In front of it, we opt for a freshly made fruit juice.

The experience can be subject to change due to bad weather or unforseen circumstances. We always endeavour to give you the best possible experience.
