We had a great time doing this excursion from the Westin Playa Conchal. Our travel agency (Pacific Trade Winds) booked through this company when we traveled in June 2024. The excursion was a snorkeling catamaran in the morning.
We really enjoyed the guides on the boat—Josue, Andres, and Franklin. They were very kind and funny, and super attentive to the group in terms of drinks and food. The whole activity is very “choose your adventure” in that you don’t have to go snorkeling, you don’t have to sit on the front of the boat, you don’t even have to get in the water when they anchor (which I didn’t because I was healing from a bad sunburn already). The food they served was SO good!! And the weather was a bit overcast at the beginning of the day which was really nice because it wasn’t super hot while we were riding to our destination.
The one thing I’d mention (and this is maybe more of a mixup on my part) is that we didn’t actually anchor very close to the private beach / shore at all so while I was originally thinking we’d be able to walk along the coast a bit, that wasn’t possible. And therefore the snorkeling was actually pretty far into the water, which may be necessary to get good views of the underwater life. But for us, it was too deep and adventurous so we weren’t able to partake as much as other more experienced snorkelers. But even still, it was a great trip and as long as you go in knowing that or maybe you’re a more experienced snorkeler, then you’ll really love it. Honestly, we still loved it! The food and the boat ride itself were very worth it!

Excellent day trip! Captain and crew were friendly and attentive. Safety was a big concern for them which was nice. Food was yummy and drinks were unlimited! We had a blast snorkeling, while others simply floated or used the kayaks and paddle boards. Beautiful way to spend the morning.

This was actually our second time sailing with the Lazy Lizard and they continued to be an excellent choice for a boat tour! My husband and I did a sunset cruise on an anniversary trip four years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it so when we decided to bring our six year old on her first international trip to Costa Rica, we knew that we needed to add them to our itinerary again!
This time we chose the morning cruise and would highly recommend, especially if you are traveling with kiddos! It was a little more relaxed and laid back and I felt like we got more time in the water. The captain and staff were excellent and so very hospitable; they hit that hard-to achieve balance of both letting you enjoy your time without being in the way, yet appearing with a drink or a helpful tip at the exact moment you needed something.
The meeting process is super easy, the “blue steps” at the beach are clearly marked and simple to find, as was parking along the road. The scenery along the sailing route is of course is beautiful and we dropped anchor in a lovely inlet where we all got the opportunity to choose to ocean swim, lounge on the “Lilly pad,” snorkel, kayak or paddle board. For anyone who doesn’t feel comfortable in the water, they have pool noodles you can use (recommended even for strong swimmers as it helped us see where everyone was) or choose a life jacket, or just stay and lounge on the boat! They provide all the gear you need for anything you choose to do.
While we all played in the water, the crew put out an incredible brunch spread with burritos, fruit, cookies and much more and there is an open bar available the entire trip that includes unlimited drinks of everything you can imagine from sodas to rum punch.
Before we went, I had a question about the booking process and the staff went above and beyond to accommodate and respond quickly. Their customer service is top-notch.
My family all agrees that this was the absolute highlight of everything we did on our week-long trip, and we will definitely book again the next time we are in Costa Rica. The best experience ever! Book it!

We took 11 high school senior boys that had Recently graduated From high school And 4 dads on this morning cruise. It was amazing. Everyone loved the activities and the food and the music. Jordan was a great host and he even let us fish. Franklin was also awesome, Helping everyone with snorkeling. And Luis was the best captain ever. I am definitely going to try and bring my family back to do that excursion again. Thank you for a memorable experience.

We had an incredible fun and relaxing morning on the Lazy Lizard. It was 5 adults and 4 children (between ages 5-7). We were picked up at our resort and driven to the nearby harbor, boarded a dingy and then brought on board the catamaran. It was clean and safety was their #1 priority. They originally took us to a cove so kids could snorkel without waves but Captain made decision to pull up anchor within 10 minutes because he deemed it not safe for the kids. I appreciate that they put safety first! They took us to another spot that was equally beautiful and we were able to snorkel, paddle board and swim for over an hour. We were fed great food and given limitless alcohol and non-alcoholic drinks. The captain and his first mates were friendly, knowledgeable and great w our kiddos. I loved it so much wish I could do it again tomorrow!
