This was the first time we took a National Express Bus in the UK as we needed to travel from Heathrow T5 to Southampton to take a cruise. The bus journey in both directions was very good and relaxing and the bus drivers gave a smooth and comfortable journey. I can recommend this as a cost effective way to get between these locations. One concern, however, was the poor (non existent) indication of the arrival of buses at Heathrow. There was a covered waiting area but there was no screen to show the time of buses arriving. As there were many arrival spots either side of the waiting area and numerous buses arriving, people had to walk up and down some considerable distance to try to see if an arriving bus was their bus. There was no display, public address system or National Express Bus employee to help people. We used the National Express Bus App, which tracked our bus, which in our case arrived from T2/3. The App gave an idea of arrival time but the bus arrived about 30 minutes later than scheduled, causing concern if we had missed our bus. We believe one solo female traveler from Germany, who wanted to travel on to Luton, had missed her bus, despite arriving more than one hour before. This difficulty negatively impacted our experience. National Express Bus should improve the client experience by giving more information and assistance. The bus station in Southampton was very small and confusing and very crowded. This bus station was really too small for the purpose. At least they did have employees in attendance to give advice. Our advice, by all means use this cost effective service but use the National Express App to track your bus and look very closely at every arriving bus, either side of the waiting area in Heathrow T5 to make sure you do not miss catching your bus. In Southampton just ask which is the correct gate to board your specific bus.

I booked an 8am coach to stanstead but the bus was more than 40 min late so had to take the train instead as I was worried I would miss my flight. Phoned them up to request a refund and they refused to issue a refund or help. Terrible service. Unreliable drivers. Do not use.

Never again bus never turned up left us stranded and had to pay out more money for a taxi so wasn’t late. No apologies or anything just a driver will have a word with. Joke of a company will never book with them again.

Misleading customer service and information. Bought return ticket to Heathrow central bus station (for a 5 day trip). Outward bound journey was a breeze. Return journey leaving Heathrow airport central bus station was a nightmare. The driver was rude and charged pretty much everyone with 2 or more suitcases for extra luggage. Another national express employee who was nearby explained the rules more politely, when I said that the outbound driver didn’t charge me for extra luggage. She said that different drivers follow different rules. National express need to train their drivers in how to do their jobs consistently and be a little less rude and less condescending.

Flexi Ticket is a Scam! I had bought a Flexi ticket as it says, edit your journey in case you miss the bus. And i did miss the bus at 8.00pm, there was another coach at 11.40 but the website does not allow me to edit the ticket, and when you call the expensive phone line, you get charged heavily. I had to buy another ticket.

Drivers are pure racist. They are wasting our valuable time. They don't like black or brown skin people. Very worst. Please pay extra and use taxis for stress free life. They spoiled my mood and made me sad. They will make you sad if you are not white.

No information at Heathrow about which buses go from which stop so I had to walk up and down with very heavy bags, try to ask drivers of other buses, finally managed to find the right bus only to be told I couldn't get a ticket as these had to be bought back in the station (again, no information about that in the station or at the bus stops). Even though there were a lot of people waiting to board the bus, and no queue for tickets, the driver said I had to wait another 30 minutes for the next bus. No thank you! Got tubes and trains instead

Very pleasant driver with a voice like silk, however the cocaine tray wasn't as expected. Sticky residue and foreign objects made the valley unusable, unfortunately.

Incredibly complicated process trying to get from Gatwick to Heathrow for a connection. Booked the closest time to after my flight arrived and made a beeline to the exit. Absolutely no signage until you finally arrive at the bus stop - and no one around to ask questions. Unfortuately, didnt make the scheduled bus. Tried to figure out the next bus, but no information or time tables. Ended up on the Oxford bus company instead, which was parked in the same spots where National Bus also picks up. Worst part - National Bus was more than twice as expensive and no option for a refund!

Due to flight late arrival booked online bus missed. Ticket office at terminal 2 Heathrow unhelpful. They just give out an emergency number to phone to change booked ticket. This number automatically answered then repeated a message that an agent would help have you ticket number ready for 31 minutes. There was no agent and no help. By contrast the bus driver was wonderful and extremely helpful. 5 stars for him.
