What to expect
Iuvanum Parco e Museo Archeologico
In the Maiella National Park you follow the Sentiero dei Monti Carricini. Immersing yourself in the woods, you will see megalithic walls from the Italian era, among the colorful vegetation and in spring you will find various wild orchids. After a short panoramic break on the crest of Monte di Maio, we will continue to arrive at the Il Mulino farmhouse where we will be delighted with a tasting of cold cuts, cheeses and typical products of their own production. Here all participants will be able to actively get involved in the creation of a traditional cheese. After meeting the farm animals we will set off for a short distance to the archaeological site of Juvanum. Duration: The activity lasts a total of 8 hours. Difference in altitude: 200 m. Distance: 7 km. Hours: from 09.00 to 16.00 approximately. Difficulty: The path is of the hiking type, with a mixed route partly in the woods and partly uncovered. No particular technical knowledge or physical preparation for walking is required. The trail is also suitable for children from 8 years old. Equipment: Shoes with sculpted soles. Layered clothing, water, hat, sunscreen, snack.
