We took the Siem Reap to Phnom Penh trip wit 2 couples, Pete was awesome dealing with a couple of changes on our part. The driver picked us up on time and drove us 4.5 hrs to the boat. Very informative info along the way. Then we got on the boat, it was just us 4 and the crew, The food and drinks came out as we left, then 4+hrs up river on the Tonle sap river. What a amazing trip, so much to see along the way and stopping at Monestry was cool. Sameth our boat guide and the Captian were awesome, Sameth was very informative and great to just hear some of his life stories. We got dropped off and had arranged Tuk tuk to our Hotel. Even took our luggage, No issues at all, From our driver to the boat crew. Was worth the trip

Brilliant trip. Got to see life on the river and life in the country. Stopping to eat tarantula was an absolute highlight. Would highly recommend this trip to anyone wanting to see more. Thankyou to both our guides

I opted to travel by bus and boat from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh in stead of flying. Am so pleased that I found Tara River Boat. The guides were friendly and spoke good enough English for me to ask questions and find out more about life in Cambodia. Its a fairly long trip and the roads were very busy due to Cambodia New Year. I boarded the boat for the final 3.5 hours of the journey and especially enjoyed the trip on the river. Would highly recommend this mode of transport from SR to PP, but make sure you put the whole day aside as it took a full 9 hours - including 2 stops.

Total scam! They sell you a totally overpriced boat trip from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh, but actually it's a five hour minibus trip and then a one and a half hour boat trip. And for this $139 are way too much.
The journey started with a guy telling me to pay him cash but he actually didn't even boarded the minibus, which left me with a very bad feeling. The driver himself didn't speak any English and couldn't answer my questions regarding the trip.
After a five hour drive, we boarded the boat where we were explicitly told that we are allowed to drink 1 coke and 1 beer. But to be honest, there wasn't anything more anyway as the cooling box was dirty and empty.
The boat guide was very unfriendly and became quite aggressive, when we (everyone doing this trip) complained. He even refused to talk to us for the rest of the trip.
I would definitely not recommend this trip as you can get way cheaper, better and friendlier options to travel from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh or vice versa.

DO NOT FALL FOR THIS SCAM TOUR.
Nothing was as advertised:
- not the same boat in the photos
- we made 33km by boat out of the total theoretical 300+km river ride, the rest via a grueling van ride. Yes, they indicated the boat ride was about 4 hours, but this was due to the really slow boat
- the river is basically like an open sewer and unfortunately..
- the lunch included: guide scooped the food with his hands, washed dishes in the dirty river
- guide did not speak English (vs. what was advertised)
- pickup from the hotel was via 2 tuktuks for our family of 5 including luggages
Complained and asked for a partial refund but was rebuffed (as I see as well with their comments here)
