    Travel to the Arctic Circle was a bucket list thing for me. But I was a bit leery about committing to a long bus ride on a bumpy road. But - the trip was fantastic! We saw wildlife along the way, gorgeous scenery, and ever-changing terrain. We traversed in comfort in a bus designed for the journey. And - leaving the best part for last... Our guide, Don, kept us alert through the entire journey with his good humor and his breadth of knowledge of many aspects of the journey, including flora and fauna, as well as history, anecdotes, and folklore. Especially interesting were his detailed accounts of the nature of permafrost and the history and construction of the pipeline.

    The tour was well organized. Our guide and driver, Avery, was knowledgeable about the Alaska pipeline and the surrounding areas. She was entertaining, intelligent, efficient, and also very thoughtful.

    This tour is highly recommended who wants to experience Dalton highway. Initially I thought of driving , also thought of flying . I am glad that I didn't do that. Our guide Avery made a huge difference by keeping everyone engaged with a smiling face all the time. Our guide, Avery is very knowledgeable, friendly, safe driver and passionate about her job. There was an accident by another drive on the way, she was updating us about the condition of the injured driver: this was very special, we haven't seen that kind of care anywhere else. There is so much to write about this trip which I may do later, but this review is just to give big thanks to Avery , give her a 5 star to make this trip so special for us.

    Exceptional from start to finish, from the checkin process to drop off. Knowledgeable and personable Avery was our guide, making our day feel very special. Long & bumpy but definitely not a trip to be missed! Highly recommend this adventure.

    James Dalton Highway

    DOES NOT GO TO COLDFOOT - But Viator Locator only has Coldfoot. Guests will be on the Dalton Highway from Mile 0 - 115 - The turn around for the day tour is the Arctic Circle Rest Area. This is a full day guided ground tour on the Dalton Highway to the Arctic Circle. Along the way the guide will share the story of Alaska's Arctic both while in motion and at the various stops along the way.

    Yukon River

    The Dalton Highway has the only bridge crossing the mighty Yukon River -- and guests will be on it as they make their way north. A stop is made here both north and south to get out and step along the banks of the Yukon River. This is also the home of the Yukon River Camp Noodle House where guests can purchase lunch/dinner as needed.

    Located in Joy Alaska this is one part of the story of Alaska's Arctic - Homesteading and making a home in Alaska's remote wild areas. Learn about this process and how earlier pioneers made a home off the road system and off the grid.

    BLM Arctic Circle Monument Sign

    Located at 66'33" - the Arctic Circle marks the location that on June 21 the sun doesn't set and on December 21 the sun doesn't rise. Your guide will celebrate with you when you make this crossing and present you with your official Arctic Circle Certificate.

If we are not traveling on the coach we will be stopping approximately every 2 hours for a restroom break -- which are outhouses along the Dalton Highway.
