    This was a brilliant trip. Luis was a fantastic guide. He shared lots of interesting information about the volcano and local history and culture. We really appreciated that he allowed us to set the pace - we didn’t feel rushed and he was happy for us to take breaks. We didn’t want to take the horses or walking sticks and we felt no pressure from him. It is quite steep at the start and end of the hike up, but that leg takes about two hours so it’s not too bad at all. Our driver Mirko was great too - he explained the history of the volcanos on our way there, and was an expert at navigating windy and bumpy roads. We set off at 8 from the hotel and started hiking around 9. We were finished around 12, and had a bit of traffic on the way back so were at the hotel by 1.45.

    The climb was easier than I expected and the overall experience of hiking in a small group, together with the view was really fun!

    It was a fun ride up on a horse, walking around seeing the views up top and a quick ride down. I would recommend a horse for 200 Quetzales each way rather than walking up rocky slippery incline. We saw the sunset which was very beautiful and a unique experience, & roasted marshmallows in the heated ground.

    What an amazing experience…. Everything was great, our driver Oscar was funny knowledgeable and experienced guide. The whole experience was memorable, I would definitely recommend a taxi “horse” if you’re not an avid hiker or athletic. The hike can get very steep and long if walking it. The taxi is well worth the money to get you up and down with out stress and able to enjoy the beautiful views. I would recommend this company to anyone.
