    Local operator cancelled last minute with no satisfactory explanation. Left us without sufficient time to book an alternative activity for the final day of our holiday. Avoid at all cost!

    This trip includes a ride on the colonial era railway (basic in the extreme, but no less for it), with a rafting experience down the jungle river. We opted for the more challenging level 3/4 rapids which saw some of us thrown out of the raft on a few occasions! A good fun day all round.

    We specially planned the end of our holiday to include this tour cutting short our stay on Gaya Island to ensure we could fit it in. Initially all was good, communication to confirm pick up times and we were really looking forward to it. Pick up time came and went and we sat patiently in our hotel lobby, after 20 mins the hotel staff asked if they could help and contacted the company for us. 10 mins later they were called back to advise the trip was cancelled as the train had broken down. Whilst I appreciate the breaking down of the train has nothing to do with this company it was the lack of communication and the fact that we were just left sitting there which has prompted this review. Also upon investigation it seems the train breaking down is quite a frequent occurrence, but this is not mentioned in the tour details, had it been and we had understood the risk we probably would not have arranged our holiday to specifically accommodate this tour. On a positive side the company did provide a full refund immediately, but sadly due to the lack of communication we had already formed a poor opinion of this company/tour

    0400-0430hrs Pick up from hotel and transfer by coach or van to Beaufort Railway Station. Located in interior division of Sabah, east Malaysia on the Island of Borneo. 0730hrs arrive at Beaufort, get onboard by train. The thrilling yet scenic ride will take approximately 1.5 - 2 hours to get to PANGI STATION (starting point) Train will depart at 0750hrs. You will have 10 minutes stopped at Rayoh station to keep your belonging and get change for rafting gears. 1030hrs when arrived at Pangi, light refreshment will be served, Safety briefing will be conducted by the riverguide. Rafting commence from starting point to RAYOH (ending point) which will be take about 1.5 - 2 hours (10km) includes of 8 points of rapids namely Head Hunter, Lambada, Cobra, Scooby Doo, Washing Machine, Mary Go Round, Snake House and BBQ Rapids. 1230hrs expected time of arrive at Rayoh (ending point) for sumptuous lunch and after lunch we will depart back by train to Beaufort at 1330hrs, estimated 2 ~ 2.5 hours on train ride. 1545hrs arrival at Beaufort town and transfer by coach or van back to Kota Kinabalu city (your hotel) estimated 2 ~ 2.5 hours. 1800hrs estimated time of arrival in Kota Kinabalu.
