You might see short-tailed shearwaters (muttonbirds) as they return to their burrows on French Island after a day of feeding at sea. These humble birds complete an extraordinary annual migration that goes from Australia to Japan, Siberia, Alaska, down the coast of North America to California, then across the Pacific Ocean to return to Australia. As the sun begins to set, take in the glow of the red and orange sky reflecting on the water and watch the lights come up in towns around the bay. On reading previous reviews I was excited for this cruise, only to be left quite disappointed. There was zero commentary/information given on board and the sail was up the coast and back again. I would have loved to learn about the history of the island or hear about the wildlife around the island but no.. we were welcomed on board and then thanked as we were leaving. That was it. Definitely not worth what we paid.. the snack boxes given out were the only reason I didn’t give this trip 1/5. The girls working on the boat were pleasant also. Save your money and have a walk along the beach instead. Waste of time in my opinion.

We had a great time on this cruise! The staff were all lovely, the boat was in great condition and the captains commentary was awesome. The only issue we had was that the ‘light canapés’ was a plate of fruit - I’m glad we had dinner before going! Other than that we had a great time and would highly recommend the experience to anyone

Commentary was excellent. Finger foods were a nice bonus. Everything else was quite a good view and atmosphere.

The crew on this boat are very professional and really know how to make people feel welcome and comfortable. The commentary was interesting and scenery enjoyable. Seeing the submarine so close was a highlight of my holiday on Phillip Island.

Great commentary, very friendly young staff , food provided was lovely. Despite the weather, which wasn’t kind- cloudy and musty rain- we enjoyed our little outing. Must do it again .... maybe we’ll see a sunset next time.
