Plaza Independencia

The Legislative Palace is the congress building and headquarters of the Legislative Power of Uruguay. The building was built between 1908 and 1925 in the city of Montevideo, it was inaugurated on August 25, 1925 in commemoration of the centenary of the Declaration of Independence.
It is the central market of the city or one of the last great markets built in iron in Montevideo. In 2006, the Municipality of Montevideo made the decision to recover the Agricultural Market as the center of a macro urban recovery project.
Avenida 18 de Julio
Avenida 18 de Julio is the main street of the city of Montevideo, and in it are some of the most important or historical buildings of the city.
It is the stadium with the largest capacity in Uruguay and one of the 15 largest in America. On July 18, 1983, it was declared by FIFA as a Historical Monument of World Soccer, being the only construction of its kind in the world. The first Soccer World Cup of 1930 was played in this stadium.

There are the Centenario Stadium, the Luis Méndez Piana Park Stadium, the Palermo Park Stadium, the Darwin Piñeyrúa Athletics Track and the Municipal Velodrome. The park is an ideal place to walk, hike or exercise and enjoy the fresh air provided by the wooded area. Near the Centennial Stadium is the La Carreta monument, the work of the sculptor José Belloni.
