    It was a beautiful day trip from our hotel in Thessaloniki to the Kavala and the archeological site of philippi! Our personal driver and guide John is passionate with his job and the history of Macedonia and he gave us many information about the local history and specifically the footsteps of apostle Paul in northern Greece. We learnt a lot and had a enjoyable day with mr John!

    After the archaeological site, you will continue to the Baptistery of Saint Lydia, located in a peaceful natural setting by the river Zygaktis. It is dedicated to the first woman in Europe to be baptized by Apostle Paul, symbolizing the beginning of Christianity in Europe. A spiritually significant stop that complements the visit to Philippi.

    For centuries, in Kavala city, Byzantines, Ottomans, Jews, merchants, tobacco workers, refugees and intellectuals mingled and prospered.
