Macao Surf Camp was an amazing experience for my teen son! Sammy was his private instructor and had him up and surfing on his second try! This business was great to deal with and easily accommodated a last minute reservation change due to one of my sons being ill and allowed us to use it later in the week.
I recommend the optional drone footage "add on" when you arrive as well!
Overall great experience and great time! Definitely recommend!

This is such a friendly and helpful group of people, especially so if you're a first-time surfer. They are quick to get you in the (somewhat sheltered and calmer) water, which is where you really (and fairly quickly) figure things out--don't worry if you feel terrible practicing on land! In the water you are accompanied by a dedicated instructor who gets you settled on the board and watches for which waves to ride, plus someone to help grab your board and get you set up to ride again...and again, and again!
The really cool part is while you are mastering the art of the balance these guys can provide AMAZING photos and videos! There is an option to have someone with a Go Pro camera take pictures from in the water, which really captures the raw action. But you can also have someone filming via DRONE! How cool is that?? The overhead shots are incredible and the drone is able to quickly move around to capture footage from every angle. But, it never feels like its in your way. I am SO glad we opted to purchase BOTH forms of photo/video (gopro and drone) because they each captured the magic of the experience in a different way. The quality of everything is stellar and you are provided with a link to download all photos/videos which you then can use however you'd like. My very favorite photo is actually a single frame from the drone video!
I truly cannot wait to go back and hang out with this wonderful group next time we visit Punta Cana! You may be surprised at what you can do, but you will NOT be disappointed!

i am a 70 year old female. my instructor was patient, kind, and professional. i was actually surfing within a few minutes. i was concerned i would not be able to stand up and surf. but i did and it was really fun. we also hired the photographer to come along. he was really good and sent me some very nice photos. i would recommend this place to everyone!!

What to expect
Spend the day with us and learn to surf like a local at Macao Beach. Our Day Camp includes two private 2-hour surf lessons, giving you a full day of waves, sunshine, and fun.
After hotel pickup, you’ll arrive at Macao Surf Camp, get fitted with a surfboard and rash guard, and meet your instructor. Beginners start with safety and technique on the sand before entering the water, while more experienced surfers begin after a brief evaluation. Instructors stay close to guide and support you throughout the day.
Between sessions, enjoy a relaxing break with a local lunch—fried fish or chicken tenders, served with tostones or french fries—before returning for your second lesson or enjoying beach time.

Playa Macao
We give a class of theory and safety in the water in charge of our master instructor. Then each student takes a board and accompanied by their personal instructor they go to the water, the first class lasts 2 hours. We go to a brake for lunch by the blue sea. And we resume surfing after a natural rest. In these classes, students learn about the sea, sports and beach life in the most fun and safe way.
