What to expect
A beautiful black sand beach popular with locals and an important historical site on Matavai bay where all the European navigators stopped on arrival on Tahiti in 1767 there is an excellent arts n crafts outlet and restrooms are available
Parc de Tahara'a
One of the best views on the island , what Cpt Cook called One Tree Hill, the view extends across Matavai bay to includesMoorea our sister island and Papeete
Linked to the ocean swells these blowholes used to blow onto the road before the tunnel was built in 2010, now the old road is a park where if you dare, you can feel the strength of the ocean blowing through holes in the lava, restrooms are available
Cascade Vaimahuta
one of 3 waterfalls in the Faarumai valley Vaimahuta is the most easiy accesible, a permanent waterfall it flows all year round and is never dry
Once a sacred site for the Teva clan, used for spiritual purification the waters are still respected by the polynesians, we find a small waterfall and several pools containing Tilapia, Koi carp and shy freshwater eels, set in a luxuriant tropical garden, there is a small arts n crafts outlet and perhaps Moana and Celestine will be selling their excellent home made lemonades and breadfruit chips Restrooms are available
A geological curiosity the cave is an old lava tube today full of fresh water due to the numerous natural springs in the area, swimming is forbidden but the cool fresh water is so refreshing few polynesians can resist a cooling dip in the pool, water drips from the ceiling all year round but our waters are so pure that there are no stalctites or stalagmites. Cook and Gauguin both visited the cave, another oppotunity for some retail therapy is offered in the artns n craft outlet, restrooms are available
'Ārahurahu Marae
Visit one of the sacred sites used by polynesians to worship their gods, on Tahiti most of these sites were destroyed or neglected after the polynesians converted to christianity, this marae has been reconstructed but many still believe in the power of these sites and the Tikis found there; restrooms are available
Teahupoo
On a full day tour there is time to visit the site of one of the most dangerous waves on the planet, the site of the 2024 Olympic Games surfing Competition, you can even take a taxi boat out to the wave for ab additional fee, there are cafes and restrooms
Papara
A short stop to admire the surfers at the Taharuu river mouth and the black sand beach, a popular place to learn to surf.
Te Fare Iamanaha-Musee De Tahiti Et Des Iles
Te Fare Iamanaha, The House of Treasures! the museum has been on this site from 1974 and was recently renovated. Situated in beautiful gardens it has many sacred objects
The experience can be subject to change due to bad weather or unforseen circumstances. We always endeavour to give you the best possible experience.
