What to expect
Café Galletti
With a cup of coffee of Arab origin we will begin this fascinating journey through the history of the Arab world, its expansion and conquest of the Iberian Peninsula and how the influence of its art and culture reached America.
Visit of the convent and church of Santo Domingo, whose construction was started in 1581 by the Spanish architect Francisco Becerra. Cloister and inner courtyard, as well as the refectory and the domes are some of the surprises.
Although it is considered one of the most important baroque art and architecture monuments in Latin America, its intricate interior decoration covered with gold leaf reminds us of an Arab mosque. We will discover the hidden symbolism in the geometry of the sacred and the symbiosis between the ancient pre-Hispanic cultures, with Christianity and the strong Arab influence.
Imposing architectural jewel of the late sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries, highlighting its richly decorated Mudejar coffered ceilings, as well as the chapel of Villacis.
History of this important temple of the eighteenth century and example of the Arab influence on architecture, on the minaret, domes and cupolas and in its Mudejar interior.
