What to expect
Adam's Bridge - Rama Setu
Start the day with a visit to the Rama Setu Viewpoint, which offers stunning views of the Ram Setu area and the surrounding landscape. This is a great place to watch the scenery and take in the beauty of Rameshwaram. It is a vantage point from where visitors can get a panoramic view of the Rama Setu, which is a chain of limestone shoals that connects the southern tip of India to Sri Lanka.
Dhanushkodi
Danushkodi - We will next visit the incredibly beautiful beach at Danushkodi, a thriving town destroyed by a tsunami. It is one of the best white sand beaches of India. It is located at the confluence of Bay of Bengal and the Indian Ocean.
Dodo Island
We will then take a drive to the Rameshwaram Bird Sanctuary is spread over an area of around 9 square kilometers and is home to a wide variety of bird species, both migratory and resident. Some of the common bird species found in this sanctuary include Flamingos, Painted Storks, Spoonbills, Pelicans, and many species of ducks and waders. The best time to visit the Rameshwaram Bird Sanctuary is from November to February when many migratory birds visit this sanctuary.
Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Memorial
The APJ Abdul Kalam Memorial is a memorial dedicated to Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, the former President of India, who was born and raised in Rameshwaram. The memorial is located on the island of Rameshwaram in Tamil Nadu, India, and is a popular tourist attraction in the region.
Ramanathaswamy temple. Next we will visit the famous temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. As per legend Lord Ram visited here to pray to Lord Shiva to atone for sins committed during the great war of Ramayana. The temple dates back to the 12th century and its long corridor is adorned with aesthetically carved pillars. We will pay our respects to the main deity who is worshipped here in the form of 2 lingams. One lingam is made of sand and was made by Lady Sita while the other was brought from mount Kailash by Hanuman. Other important deities are that of Goddess Parvathi, Nandi, Goddess Vishalakshi Vinayaka , Subrahmanya and Vishnu.
