What to expect
Hippocrates Square
Ippokratous Square sits in the center of the medieval walled city of Rhodes. The ornated fountain in the center is the only remaining evidence of an important construction of the Knights Hospitaller in the 14th century.
Sea Gate
Also known as the Marine Gate, it is a medieval gate constructed in 1478 to serve as the main entrance from the harbor into the city. Grand Master Pierre d'Aubusson ordered it to imitate the Gate to Villeneuve-lès-Avignon in France - which is 2 centuries older.
Freedom Gate
The Eleftherias (Freedom) Gate is the main connection between the medieval town and Mandraki Harbor. It was made after WWII by the Italians, which saw themselves as the liberators of Rhodes.
Our Lady of the Castle (Panayia)
A gem of Bysantine style and one of the city's most popular attrations, it was built sometime in the 11th century and used as a Orthodox Bysantine Cathedral, a Latin Cathedral under the Franks, and a mosque under Ottoman rule.
This old cobblestoned street will bring you back to the Middle Ages, as it is one of the best-preserved medieval streets in Europe. It runds from the square of the Knights' Hospital to the Palace of the Grand Master of the Knights of the Order of St. John. While walking you'll see seven inns representing the same amount of countries from which the Knights came from: England, Germany, Italy, France, Aragon, Provence, and Auvergne.
The experience can be subject to change due to bad weather or unforseen circumstances. We always endeavour to give you the best possible experience.
